About the Journal

The Journal of Physical & Natural Sciences is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed platform dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge with direct relevance to real-world applications. The journal is published by the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Aims and Scope

JPNS welcomes high-quality research across physical sciences, natural sciences, applied sciences, computer science, environmental sustainability, food science, data science, artificial intelligence, physical education, and related interdisciplinary areas.

Objectives

  • Provide a multidisciplinary platform for high-quality applied research.
  • Encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration among researchers.
  • Enhance the visibility and accessibility of applied scientific research.
  • Promote evidence-based innovation for societal, technological, environmental and industrial advancement.
  • Maintain rigorous peer-review standards and scholarly integrity.

Editorial Board

The Editorial Board consists of experienced academics and researchers representing the major disciplines covered by the journal.

Guide for Authors

Manuscripts submitted to JPNS must be original, written in English, properly formatted, and prepared according to the journal’s editorial, ethical and peer-review requirements.

Research Article

Full-length original empirical or theoretical investigation with novel findings.

Formatting Requirements

Font Times New Roman
Font Size 12-point font. The font inside tables may be reduced to 9-point where necessary.
Line Spacing 1.15 line spacing
Paper Size A4 paper
Margins Top 1”, Bottom 1”, Left 1”, Right 1”
Line Numbering Continuous line numbering is required for peer review.
Section Numbering Use clear numbering such as 1, 1.1 and 1.1.1. The abstract should not be numbered.
References APA style, 7th edition, arranged alphabetically.

Title Page, Abstract and Keywords

Title Page

The title page should be submitted separately and include the manuscript title, author names, affiliations, postal addresses, email addresses, and corresponding author contact details.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should be factual and self-contained, with a maximum of 250 words. Provide up to five keywords immediately after the abstract.

Tables, Figures and References

  • Tables and figures should be embedded within the manuscript text.
  • Each table and figure must have a descriptive caption and be cited in the text.
  • Table captions should appear above tables, while figure captions should appear below figures.
  • References must follow APA 7th edition and be listed alphabetically.

Ethics, Plagiarism and AI Use Policy

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened using Turnitin or equivalent software. Similarity is evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively by the editorial team.

Manuscripts must maintain an acceptable similarity level according to JPNS editorial judgment.
AI Use Policy

Authors must disclose any use of AI tools. AI may be used only for language editing or formatting support. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

AI-generated research data, analyses, figures, tables or graphs are not permitted.

  • The manuscript is original and unpublished.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript is anonymized for double-blind review.
  • The manuscript follows JPNS formatting requirements.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • Ethics, funding and conflict declarations are included.
  • References follow APA 7th edition.
